Dionne Warwick was a college scholar who sang in New York City recording sessions when songwriters Burt Bacharach and Hal David, yet to have their first big hit, picked her out of a upbringing choir at a Drifters session. She sang their demos first and in the final analysis made their biggest hits, including "Anyone Who Had a Heart" and "Walk on By," both recorded at the same morning period, and another half dozen Top Ten hits that formed one of the most beloved treasuries of 20th century American accessible song.
Although she went on to work with such other noted songwriters and producers as Thom Bell, Jerry Ragovoy, Barry Manilow, Stevie Be amazed and Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees, she always comes back to Bacharach and David. She appears Saturday at the Castro Dramaturgy in a concert produced by the Rrazz Room. She spoke by a call from her New Jersey home, where she lives when she's not at her other home in Brazil.

On February 23, 1989, Scott Wade, guitar sportswoman, having it on authority from a former bandmate Mike Mongrain - who, having dropped out of Woodway Pongy chief School was currently securing his as yet un-established family's prospective in the navy was stationed in Japan and not playing drums - that a drummer of some unspecified strength was holed up at this residence, took it upon himself to make contact by driving to my parents lodge and knocking on the door.
Mike and I grew up on the same in someone's bailiwick. He moved into the neighborhood at the age of 9 or so, and my brother Paul and I were at his house the next morning to find out if there were any kids that lived there that could "turn out and play." A few years later Mike got a drum set. Every day, as I was coming retreat from my paper route, I would hear him playing. I don't remember him ever not being renowned.
