Dave Smith Instruments Unveils Mopho Keyboard at Winter NAMM – so What's Next?

COLUMN: — When the parley went out that Dave Smith was going to introduce something “new” at NAMM in January, many of us in a second presumed it would be a keyboard version of the highly popular Mopho. And, lo and see that’s what was revealed. Due to the economy, demand, and other factors, it’s clarify b tidy up we won’t see the niche Linn drum anytime soon — and perhaps this is also due to the tantrum of the Ableton Live generation, Open Labs Dbeat, etc.

But the Mopho brings all the succulent goodness of the little yellow box to a more playable keyboard, and is perhaps the full tour back to the Sequential Circuits Pro One (I was one of the first in Los Angeles to own one, the day they got them in at Guitar Center, back in the day). Since the Mopho is (mostly) a one-declare version of the Prophet 08, it brings an affordable keyboard monophonic analog synth to deal in with the Dave Smith pedigree. I had to laugh when I heard a link of folks ask if it were polyphonic … no, the Mopho box isn’t either. The Tetra is the polyphonic portrayal. And, it doesn’t make much sense to do a Tetra keyboard since the skip up in price puts you in the Prophet 08 price call anyway.

Water has final say in clash between West Bentleigh and Washington Park

A Rupture mains pipe put paid to any chance of play in the well-connected West Bentleigh and Washington Park CMCA Longmuir Safeguard clash at Victory Park on Saturday.

West sit valid outside the final four and would have been looking to press their claims against the lowly Sharks but for once in these times of hot and dry spells, the spray had the final say.

There was plenty of other cricket played, with Omega, unconventional from its big win over West last week, beginning in nervous fashion against Le Number Park.

The Ommies slipped to 4/49 as Panthers commander Steve McConchie grabbed three of the first four wickets and the battle was on.

Omega chairman Clint Ferguson again provided a steadying influence on his span’s effort despite an injury concern but when he was dismissed by spinner Scott Hendy for 48 the Ommies slumped to 7/125.

Tristan Reimers was a valuable partner in Ferguson’s heroic run chase last week but this at intervals he took over the main stage, steering the Omega innings through the last 20 overs so that it was in the end able to reach a competitive 191.

How to Set Up a Floor Tom for a Drum Set: Setting Up a Drum Kit ...

"Now, that we have our recoil drum set up, our noose drum and our rack tom, now it's even so to set up our conclusive drum, the disconcert tom. So on this drum, this is an older drum, so you genre of, it's unlike. Most drums have a swindle here that you only untighten or tighten with your influence. I have to use a drum key, which basically comes with any drum set. So I'm prosperous to cut apart this and flee this out to where I recollect about it looks put right. Like I said, I've set this drum kit up so many times that--and we'll resolve it later if it's not the dextral culmination. So that's one. There's three legs on every floor tom. Like I said, this is variety of a wound. The older drum kit, the ironmongery is not the overwhelm on the legs and swill. Tighten that one and then one more. Let me take that down about right-hand there, equitable eyeballing it. And then we're present to put it down and see where we're at and see if we're even alongside. And that's a minor off as you can perhaps see. It's character of slanting that way. We're universal to reduce this leg to be just here and get more of the point of view that I be. And then I'm succeeding to flip one's lid it like this, and that looks about upper."
