The Caledonia Couch was pretty empty when I first got there for the Part Bear CD release show Saturday night. I then noticed the retain announcing that the bar still didn’t have its liquor license, so I assumed everyone was at a neighboring bar preparing for the Cimmerian dark’s festivities. Luckily, people started to show up after a couple songs into The Unsullied Liars' opening set.

This three-piece Southern rock act, complete with analogous cowboy hats, sang about the rougher side of life. Carter Ross’ uncorrupted and clever lyrics cover drinking, day-to-day survival, and the never-ending pursuit to get laid. It's all told with country flavor from the point of point of view of a guy with questionable morals, with choruses like “With sleeveless shirts and ripped jeans/I’ll be the dirtbag of your dreams” or “I’ll smack you with this liar’s tongue.” I think you get what I mean. The music itself was garish and rowdy—just what you'd expect from this type of band. The guitarist's uncivil-but-sweet wah-wah-drenched solos perfectly balanced out the songs. I discovered The Religious Liars at last year’s AthFest and since then have seen them improve with every show. I’m indeed excited to see what they do next and how they evolve as a band.

A Line-up from a leading London theatre are in training to run a half marathon in aid of a league night event for young people with learning difficulties.

The five sturdy running group, made up of staff who work at North Finchley's artsdepot, in Addition Ho, are hoping to complete a 13.1 mile course around Bath to run up money for their Clive event.

The nightclub style evening offers people age-old between 14 and 25, their families and their carers, a chance to relish in an inclusive clubbing experience in a safe environment.

Edification manager at artsdepot, Inga Hirst, said they assemble workshops before the event to teach some of the party goers how to use DJ and video equipment so they can carry on on the night.

“It's all about building up their confidence so they can enjoy the experience,” she said.

“It is a Non-Standard real important way for the young people to get out in a comfortable environment and pay friends and other people, and to have a good time.

“All different departments vocation together on Clive and it is such a big event for us, so it is nice to be involved in some fundraising.”
